Who We Are
We are a Southwest Missouri group of historians obligated to preserve our local history for future generations |
A group of seven gentlemen gathered in October 2014 to pick up the charge left by the former Campbell's Camp, United Confederate Veterans #488 (1894-1919) to preserve the memory and legacy of our local citizen-soldiers who took up arms to defend the state of Missouri and then later many for the Confederate States of America. In the time since its inception camp #2252 has grown to thirty seven members and built relationships with area county historical societies and the regional office of the National Park Service. We have made great strides to rediscover our Confederate service men in the southwest corridor of Missouri consisting of 20 counties by adding names along with service to our Missouri Division Graves Registry and marking previously unmarked graves.
